I think the reason there's not much discussion on AK's is because for a little more money you can get a kilt with cargo pockets or slit pockets and provide more functionality. But what you do hear about AK's is usually if not always postive.
I know one of my hang-ups was the hem verses selvedge. While a selvedge is traditional most people may prefer a hem on a casual kilt. I've noticed the selvedge edge on the AK could use some more strength. I read in another thread about a "Selvedge Tape" I think you can iron on that might provide reinforcement to prevent fraying if I get snagged on something.
I've spent the past couple evenings ironing out the inner pleat on my AK to try and get the hang right. I think they look pretty good. Now I just need to stitch the inner pleat to hold the shape.
