Back on the kilted planet
I probably should have introduced myself before jumping back in. I was here back in Feb of 04 and dropped out for a messy divorce, among other things. It's amazing how much the community has grown and how much better things are today. Great to see all of you new guys, and you old kilties too.
Although I've been offline for while, I've been roaming the US of A in my kilt: Wilmington, Rehoboth, Dewey Beach, Newark, and Middletown in Delaware, Philadelphia, New York City, Cooperstown NY, Austin, TX, San Francisco and on a cross continental flight to Philadelphia.
What I have learned is that many women love men in kilts. Women of all ages and from all walks of life will strike up conversations (and atempt kilt checks). Sadly, my ex-wife refers to it as a skirt and detests me for looking good in a kilt. So this is a win-win proposition for me: Exorcise the ex, while easily meeting more open minded women.
I've also found that some men are intimidated but more wish they had the cajohnes to wear one. But who among us really cares what other guys think? If we did we'd wear Ralph Lauren's pants, like everyone else.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the crew from USA Kilts, at a pub, suprisingly. I want to thank them for my favorite kilt, a Grey Stewart made by the lovely Ms. Stewart, herself. I also own 2 sport kilts, which I would not have bought, if I had discovered USA kilts first. The sport kilts are OK if you sew down the pleats a bit.
Now I kilt almost every weekend out, casual, combat style boots, mock turtle neck, leather jacket, with the semi-dress sporran and sgiahn diugh (sp). But it also wears well with a tux shirt and jacket, hose and loafers. Need to get flashes, and colored hose.
To be kilted, is to be proud.
And you may ask yourself, Well how did I get here?
