Sporran chain question
Ok...well, I finally got it. My new USA kilts Philabeg in Gunn tartan (and very first kilt), and I'm very happy with it. I will post pics soon in my gallery.
I have a question on the sporran chain:
I bought the Buzz Kidder (I'm pretty sure) Celtic Knot sporran from Rocky. The chain is too long. For those of you that have had this problem, do you just cut the chain to size? Tuck the excess behind the sporran? How do you know where the ideal hanging area is? I certainly don't want it too high or too low.
Thanks all!!

Isn't the chain strap adjustable ?
More holes in the leather had been a solution. Remember if you shorten the chain to take the same amount of links out of each side

It's just a straight chain with clips on each end. Looks like a chain you could buy from any hardware store.

What I did with mine is cut it. However, I left enough to deal with different kilt thickness and possible Casey expansion. I used the split rings to balance the extra and let it hang behind the sporran, and at my back(I received 2 different chain configurations). I made sure that the hanging excess was even on both sides. This way it look like it was meant to be.

Looks like it's time to get the Dremel out or a good pair of cutters.. Do as casey said and leave enough for different kilts.
I'd didn't know you could get just a chain.....watch that baby doesn't rub your kilt too much.

Plop the sporran about 1-2 inches below you belt and hold it there. The chain should be attached on one side of the sporran. Take the other side and swing it around to the other clasping ring. The excess in the chain is where you'll need to chop it off.
If you don't have the tools, mark where you need it cut and go to Home Depot or Lowe's and beg them to give it a snip. They'll be more than happy to do it.
Arise. Kill. Eat.
