How about suggesting that if she prefers you could start to wear her skirts instead!
I don't know about that one. What if she calls your bluff?

Hopefully she'll be like my wife and ask you to order yet another kilt (mine likes the grey twill material, so I think I'll be getting another PK soon).

    No knees to wear out.

    No crotch to wear out.

No scuffing the hemlines and wearing those out like in pants.

More forgiving if you gain or lose a few pounds than pants are.

Since they'll last about 10 times longer than any pair of pants you ever owned, its a pretty good investment.

When you feel good, you'll look good and work more effectively. When you feel happy, you'll be more fun to be with. When you feel comfortable, you'll enjoy everything more... Life is too short not to do whatever you can to feel good, look good, work effectively, be happy, share fun, feel comfortable, and ENJOY the days God gives you!

Tell her there's no one you'd rather share all the joys of life with, including the joy of being kilted.

Remind her Father's Day is coming up soon.

Tell her next month (season, year... whatever fits) will be HER turn to buy her heart's desire, and you won't complain.

Tell her you always feel like a 'real man' in your kilt, and as a 'real woman' she deserves nothing less.

Seduce her whilst wearing your kilt and make sure SHE has a great time!

When people ask me about how expensive kilts are, I remind them that:
    a) they are worth it -- the cloth is expensive to begin with, and there are many skilled man hours that go into making one, but most importantly...
    b) a kilt is only expensive if you never wear it. If you wear it regularly, and you enjoy it, it will be worth every penny and then some. On the other hand, if you only wear it once a year or so, it will be the most expensive item hanging in your closet.

Remember, too, that (assuming we are talking about a traditional kilt) you are investing in an heirloom item, one that can be worn by your sons and grandsons long after you are gone.

    Aye,
    Matt

If your wife is socially minded like mine, she will appreciate supporting the artisans that create these beautiful garments. Supporting them instead of Wal-Mart always sways her mind. This thought process also has allowed me to tlak her into using fresh cut Christmas trees, vs. Plastic.

    Good Luck,

    George
