She is probably one of the few people who are fed up with the public protrayal of the Kilt. She probably thinks that 'faux Scots' are going to run around the town mooning people and acting stupid or just the general disrpecting of the Kilt.
Instead of complaining about the Faux Scots, she should have joined you to spread the word of NTD.

Apparantly, on National Tartan Day, U.S. senators who have Scots blood wear kilts to the Capitol. The last time I was in Washington, DC, I got a free staff tour of the Capitol building because I was wearing a kilt. I was able to skip security and wander around with a huge backpack on my back.

Todd, you beat me to it!
Take your pick on Canada:
Saint Jean de Brébeuf
St. Anne
Our Lady of the Assumption (Acadians)
St. George
USA:
Our Lady of the Assumption
I'll only add that Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of all the Americas.
And I'm pretty sure that the patroness of the USA is Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, not the Assumption.

Hey, NPR did have something last year about NTD(do we really went to call it something that sounds preventable with good hygene?). I dont think it was on the Day but during the weekend following. It ended with the usual sniggery, giggly skirty thing that most 'kilt stories' do: one of the guys had his on in the studio and other would never consider wearing one.

Well, I did write them (in their "Suggest a Story" section), and asked if they were planning on doing such a story, and if they were, to focus on the why's and when's of National Tartan Day (please note I did not abreviate it in my message to them -- wouldn't want NTD to be thought of as an STD!). Hopefully, someone will get the drift.
