kilted by day

Well it was a sunny day here in the north country, A balmy 45 degrees(+5c)

So I went out kilted! and enjoyed the day. I had to pick up the wife from her work and all her co-workers loved the kilt said it was sexy

But for the most part most of the folks that saw me didn't say anything.just mostly smiled and said hi!

It was a grand day to be kilted. another great anti-pants day.
Now that its warming up a bit there will be many more to look forward to!

A beautiful time of the year it is indeed when you can spend a day strolling the park and showing off the world's most wonderful garment without worrying about the cold factor.

While I have worn a kilt as low as 30 degrees, that's my limit. There just isn't a wool tank in my closet.

I'm guessing that is true for others as well.

Dont just think of tempraure. I have worn my kilts as low as 7F at that is actually warmer than it is at 40F. Why? The air is usually damp and slightly windy at 40, while it is dry as a bone under 20.

Either way though it is still warmer than pants. Thinking kilts are colder is a psychological think. Try it yourself somitime. Go outside in pants when the temp is below 40. Then go inside, change into a kilt (I do reccomend a real pair of kilt hose) and then go back out.

Unless it is really windy (and I mean tornado weather) you will be warmer in a kilt (even the contemporary non wool variety). Why? The kilt acts like a mitten, holding a pocket of warm air around you instead of pants allowing all of your body heat to escape directly into the air.

Now I never would have believed this post, had I not found out for my self. Three years ago I went to a New Years party in a UK (and not a heavy Workman's). It was 17F that night, and at midnight someone decided that we should all go ourside for the countdown. We only ended up staying outside for nearly 10 min, and I was one of the few people that was not freezing by the time we went back in. Sine then I have constantly surprised myself that I'm not cold, though people do ask all the time if I am.

1st post.

Am a scot and am used to cold weather. The full weight tartan kilt is fab in the cold. Also, I have a knitted silk kilt which is just incredible: is cool in the summer and SO warm in the winter. A must have!!

The main reason that I don't where a kilt in the winter , where I live the wind picks up pretty good around here. sometimes up to 10 miles per hour Plus the wind chill factor makes some day about -30 to -40 degrees below zero

This is not idea kilt wearing weather. So I have to wait a little longer until the temps get above 35 and stay there. Not usually until most of the snow is gone.
