    California and Seattle

    Hey everybody!
I just got back from a trip to california, where I dropped off a maple leaf kilt for a friend who just got married.
He absolutely loved it, and we were both kilted at his wedding kegger. He wore it around town [Chico], and the reactions from the mainly college-aged kids were all of the "Awesome! Where can I get one?" variety, or of the oh-so-softly whispered "that guy's wearing a kilt! Cool!" variety that were heard from across the street/restaurant.
We went to San Francisco for a couple of days, and the kilt occasioned precisely one comment, despite the crowded streets, etc. Nothing surprises a SF native, I guess.
A long [long] layover in seattle gave me time to check out the downtown area and the Pike market, which were both pretty cool. I couldn't be kilted at that point, since my bag was still in the hands of the airline, but I was disappointed to see everyone in pants in this supposed kilt mecca.

We were supposed to make it up to visit Steve in Victoria, but the fates were against us, and that made us sad. I'll see if I can't make it up to him at the gathering in august.

It's good to be back in the snowy paradise of edmonton. I just can't handle heat in the wintertime.

Sounds like you had a fun trip!

I just returned from Seattle myself, and aside from Kilted John, Alan, and the fine folks at the Utilikilts store, I never saw anyone else in a kilt either. Oh well, I still had a great time there.

The only "bad" experience was coming back from Port Townsend on the ferry. Kilted John and I wandered up to the observation deck and a group of rednecks started laughing at us. Idiots. We just ignored them.

Wonder if we should've gone to a mexican restaurant instead... Could've gassed'em instead of just ignoring'em... ;-)
