Is it the site or just my computer?

Fonts seem to be the size of the fine print on a contract and the margins seem to take up nearly half the screen.

Is it my computers setting screwed up or is this part of the new changes you are making?

If it is a new look, I don't like it. Much too hard to read. If it is my machine, I need to figure out how to reconfigure it.

I view this site from about four drastically different operating systems and the only one it ever looks bad on is Solaris 7 running Netscape Navigator.

It doesn't look "bad" just small.

    Doc,

If your graphics card/screen is set to a resolution of say 1600 x 1200, this site will appear as a column down the middle of the screen, with two wide blank bands either side. I would guess that this site is optimised for 800 x 600 viewing. If you view a lot of high resolution photographs, 1600 x 1200 would be best for you, but the downside will be the less than optimum set up for Xmarks, especially if you are viewing on a small screen.

Doc, it's your computer. If anything, on my computer, everything's a little large. I am running my machine at 1024x768 with a 20" monitor.

What you need to do, is if you're running Windows, go to the Start menu, choose Control Panel, then Display. Click on the Display Properties tab (might be Display Settings - one on the far right of the control panel), then choose something like 1024x768. Click OK.

If you're running a Mac, go to the Monitors (or Monitors & Sound) control panel and change it to 1024x768 or 832x624... That'll make it bigger.

I think you're right about it being optimized for 800 x 600, but if you're on a large screen, like my 19" ... OMG! It's HUGE! I've got mine set at 1280 x 1024, and it's easily readable. Of course, I've got very good eyesight.

    Something that might help..

I'm not sure where I found the setting, and it might only be through Mozilla, but at some point while randomly exploring the settings on my computer, I found an option to have my scroll wheel control the font size of web pages. Now if I hold down the Ctrl key while turning the wheel, I can change the size to my liking.

It's not a perfect fix, because the script-to-frame relationship can get a little screwy; for instance if I do it now, the words "Preview" and "Submit" can get so big that I can only see the top half of the words.

Maybe one of the C-geeks (and I use that term respectfully) can tell you more, and where I found it.

What you need to do, is if you're running Windows, go to the Start menu, choose Control Panel, then Display. Click on the Display Properties tab (might be Display Settings - one on the far right of the control panel), then choose something like 1024x768. Click OK.
You can do the same thing by right clicking anywhere in the open field of the desktop (not on an icon), click on properties, and then pick the settings tab, and change it from there.

Or, double click on the Display icon in the System Tray... A few ways to access the settings...

Iolaus, it IS with Mozilla, but if you scroll down far enough, it will take you out of the thread and into the main forum, it changes font sizes left and right... interesting, but potentially irritating.

Ah, the joys of dealing with an open source program that's constantly being updated... ;-) I'll have to try setting my Dell's copy of Mozilla so it does that. My Mac, on the other hand still has a single-button mouse on it, so probably can't do that. Besides, I'm running version 1.3.1 on this machine...
