I go with the general rule: if it looks good and kept nice, it's acceptible. Looking at the picture, you've far surpassed this guideline. I've worn something similar on occasion, though I still cant afford such nice shoes as you have.

I like it, I don't see any need to do it 'how it has been done before', and it looks great!

Blu, looks fine to me. No different really, than adding a sweater underneath a suit jacket, which my dad does a lot of the time...

I think I know where you are coming from Blu. I would hate to do anything stupid. (Like the story bear wrote about the guy who had his kilt on backwards!) Having said that, I just cruise the pix and galleries on this forum to see what looks good and take my cues from there. If I stick too closely to the "rules", I feel like i'm wearing a costume. I just want to wear a comfortable garment that looks good, in which case, there aren't that many rules.

    Cheers

The Kiltstore is selling them for roughly $100. If I didn't already own a pair I'd be buying some from them. A terrific deal with the Xmarks discount. To put things in perspective, It's about the same cost as 5 CD's. Heck... my kids spend more than that on a pair of their running shoes! Thank goodness their buying their own shoes now.

Looks like something Sean Connery would wear. Can't go wrong with a look like that.

    Blu,

For what it's worth, I think you look pretty smart in that 'ensemble' and I am impressed by your eye for colour co-ordination.

If I had to nit-pick, however, I would single out the Ghillie brogues. These are the footwear to be worn when we are really dressed up to the nines, and I think they might just be a little too much on this occasion. Ordinary polished black business shoes would, I think, be more appropriate. As I say, I am nit-picking with this. It is not that important that you should worry about it - you still look impressive. Well done.

Thanx Ham... that means a lot to me. I know what you mean about the ghillies. I have, in fact, been keeping an eye open for the right pair of black leather wingtips for such occasions. I've another trade show coming up in May and I'll need them anyway.

I quite appreciate your honesty and insight!

    cheers,
    blu
