I can only suggest that although alternate schemes have been tried before (although admittedly not by me), most men seem to choose either the traditional leather strap or strap and chain. Unlike some in the group, I've never had a problem with the chain damaging the kilt. Also, I think they look good.
Personally, I think the weight of the sporran on the belt or the front of the kilt is not a good idea and wouldn't want that. The traditional approach also allows the sporran some freedom to move with body. Perhaps the solution is to give your scheme a try and see if you like it. Let us know how you make out with it.
