Anybody knows what tartan this is?

I was tipped about this kilt on ebay, very good deal. Does anybody know what tartan it is?

That is the Anderson tartan. The back of a non-pleated to sett (probably 4 yard) kilt.

Yes, it's an Anderson tartan, pleated to stripe. But I don't think it's a 4-yd. kilt. It has about 6.25 yds. showing just in the pleats. (9" sett x 25 pleats)

There's a sporran chain strap showing in the photo. Is the sporran included? Does the advert tell you the weight of the material or if it's worsted wool?

No sporran included. I don't think the person selling knows much about kilts, but it is mentioned as being made of wool.

Cyndi is right. There is no way that is a 4 yard kilt. You can't pleat a sett as large as the Anderson like that with only four yards.

Matt and Cyndi I do believe you are correct. That would be more than 4 yards. I just assumed that because it wasn't pleated to the sett that it wasn't a full 8 yards.

I also agree with Cyndi that Anderson is a beautiful tartan but I'm probably biased as it is also my clan affiliation. Its too bad more of the Anderson variations aren't available in stock tartans like the Anderson dress or hunting. Usually the modern, andient or muted, which are basically the same but with different color tones, are kept in stock. Of course, with so many beautiful registered tartans out there, there is no way mills could realistically keep all of them on hand.

Inaki, are you thinking about bidding on this kilt? (Just being nosey)

I put a small bid in. Itll probably skyrocket in a couple of days, and I dont count on much cash right now. We'll see how it turns.
