Ok Gang,
I've gotten three designs for the X Marks tartan up in my gallery -- the original one, plus two I worked up today. Just so you can see some of the possibilites, just with these same colors, and keeping the "X" motif with the white band on the dark blue feild.
Aye,
Matt

Mac,
Tartan #3 is awsome.
I'll take enough in 13 oz. wool for an 8 yard knife pleat.
Consider this a firm order. As soon as everyone else agrees that this is the final design.
I've got Barb's book, my X marks kilt pin, a brand new pack of needles and enough band-aids for the blisters.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

I still have to stick with number 1 for my favourite. All three are awesome Matt, but 1 is still the tartan that stands out more for me.

My vote still goes to the first design.

I still like the first design best. I think it's great!

I still like No1 the best, the darker the better.
What do you all think of Poly Vis as a material? I'm told it can be woven to order. It's a good, hard wearing material and much more affordable for everyday wear.

Graham, as I understand it, poly/vis requires a pretty large minimum order so there'd need to be quite a few firm orders to justify going that route.

According to what Matt said, the minimum weaving requirement makes it a lot more expensive as a job lot -- and believe me, it is far below wool in quality of wear, holding a pleat, comfort, etc., etc., etc.!
