Kilt Jonesing With Magnus - Chapter V

    Recap:
Chapter I - Magnus scurries about frantically to get a kilt for a concert with his friends. Ends up with USAK Philabeg in Scottish National tartan.

Chapter II - Magnus loves his Philabeg and orders one in Royal Stewart.

Chapter III - Magnus loves his Philabegs, wants another one in Irish Nat'l for St Patty's Day, finds out he can't get one done in time, and goes home from the USAK Super Store with a Philabeg in Ramsey. Shortest jonesing ever.

Chapter IV - Magnus introduces his oldest daughter to The Bug and orders her a kiddy kilt in Royal Stewart.

Which brings us to Chapter V. Today is my 15 year anniversary of my first date with my wife. This is the one we really celebrate, not our wedding anniversary so much. Wife tells me to go buy a kilt for myself as an anniversary gift.

I contacted USAK to get the lowdown on Traditional vs. Premiere. I want the Premiere but can't afford it yet. It will wait.

So now I am putting together an order for a Pittsburgh Kilt in USMC MARPAT camo (forest), lined, with matching sporran and as a special request Jeff is going to replace all the shiny chrome hardware with black to make this more suitable for hunting and general outdoors use. This is my first non-tartan kilt, and my first non-USAK kilt.

Awesome! I'm wearing my new-cammies (as we who graduated from Paris Island wearing the old cammies call them) as I type this. I'm pretty damn psyched to see your cammie kilt! Do share when it's done! Erik

Thats a pretty cool looking pattern, isnt it? After all, it was designed for the world's finest. That one is one my wish list too. Semper Fi.

You'll love your forest MARPAT from PK....

I got me one and love it.

Hope you have better luck finding the eagle globe and anchor logos than I did...took me a loooong while, but then I'm an old guy...your eyes will probably leap right to them...

For me, it was verification of what a great camo pattern MARPAT is when I can't even find something distinctive I'm looking for, but its right there in front of me.

Chapter VI will be you ordering something creative from Jeff...two or three color...

Happy anniversary of the meeting too.

Actually Chapter VI is already underway, and yes it is something very creative, and no it is not something like he's ever done before. He hasn't agreed to do it yet as he has to assess the challenge still but I think he's up to it. But I want to keep the details a secret until I have pictures of that.

And I will surely get some pics of the MARPAT kilt, preferably while I'm wearing it to the rifle range and firing one of my small collection of military surplus rifles.

Thanks, all, for the well wishes.

Magnus I to am in the process of ordering not one but two kilts from Jeff. Both will be solid black for work. I think I need a hit of tartan at the moment

Hay Magnus... the sheep won't see you coming!

You're gonna see a HUGE difference in Jeff's kilts. I know that they look a little like the AmeriKilts, but Jeff's have some serious bulk to them. The quality of his sewing is wonderful too.

That would be GREAT at the bars. You don't see too many of them around here on the "right" side of the state.
