And he also fixes the left buckle on the inside of the kilt, so having no need for the buttonhole! Perhaps that could be mentioned as an alternative.

What I find irritating is having to jump between inches in the book and the metric measures in which I work! Am I just a lone European with funny units?

Yesterday I bought the cloth, a wool twill in solid green/brown! Looks good feels good, came at a good price. In May I will begin work, having the livingroom floor to my self, wife and children will be gone!
One of us could mail you a tape measure with feet, inches and yards. A 120" tape can be had for about 7.57 Deutsche Marks or 3.87 Euros plus shipping.

Postage would probably cost more than the tape measure, but it would be less skull sweat for you.

Drop me a PM if you want me to send you a tape.

No, no, itīs just irritating. Since I am making a selfcolour kilt I will just work with centimeters!

    But thanks all the same!!

    Barb's Posse

Now that I am back to work, Iwon't have nearly as much time to make another kilt.
However I will be dedicating some spare time towards that end. I will be starting a kilt for my son this coming week. After that I tackle that wool that I have stashed away.

Best of luck to all of you in making your kilts

I am doing the lining of my second, and starting the pleating of my third.

The third is from 16 oz. tartan, what a difference!!!

It is such a different feel from the poly/wool....

So far, much better to work with....

I hope to have it done before the Savannah games. I will be bringing my Gordon and the new one, well, probably the Stewart Hunting, too...

Hoe hard is it really to make your own kilt if you have one these dummy guides? I have no sewing experience whatsoever...

It really isn't so much hard as it requires patience. Just take your time. Sewing is really pretty simple and getting the accuracy is a matter of paying attention to detail. The stitches themselves are simple.

It's available from www.celticdragonpress.com or PM Barb here. It's a book well worth having.
