I guess I just don't see how to do that, as the edge of the apron was done with the very fine backstitch....

Oh, I see what you mean. The instructions on page 101 refet to finishing the _facing_, which means the back side. So, that's the free edge of the facing on the back side, which you catch stitch just like you finish the free edge on the back side of the apron edge. You don't do any stitching on the front edge of the underapron.

That sure makes life easier!!!
Oh, I also found that real beeswax is much better to work with than the 'beeswax' I found in the sewing shop. And you can use it on your bagpipe hemp!!

Barb, I didn't try to get in on the free copies of your book, because I don't know if I would ever actually make a kilt, but I'd love to read it. Can you tell me wherte I can purchase a copy and how much is it?

Since I have very little experience pressing and ironing, and I bought a cute little ham just for the kilts, would it be possible to include illustrations on the ironing and pressing procedure in the next edition??
