Welcome Stuart. Interesting you mention the World Heavy Events. I was just about to order some throw training stuff. I"m thinking the 28 lb'er. I'm up to 12oz's full weight and elbow action feels good!

Welcome from another Kilted Canadian. It's good to hear of another kiltie that has access to regular kilt nights, and a guru to call upon. Luckily we have Bear out this way to keep us in pleats, and to educate us on the benefits of Bushmills.

Kilted in Detroit/ pleated in B.C

    Wow,
I couldn't think of another place that I might feel slightly out of place in a kilt than in Detroit.
But I could imagine walking the Betsie river in Benzie county or walking a trail in the U.P in a camo Canadian Casual Kilt. Detroit may get a bad rap but everywhere there are big cities and big city problems. The fortunate thing is we get to enjoy places like the northern half of Michigan. It is just as beautiful as Ontario, and yes the weather is the same.
The only place that gets colder and has more snow than Southern Ontario is northern N.Y state.

I think we are all fortunate to have local talented kiltmakers to rely on. I've enjoyed seeing some makers progress there casual and traditional kilts into something unique. I love to see a casual kilt maker pull off a 12,14 or 18 oz
8 yard that rivals the best oversea with a touch of there own flair.

    Cheers

Hi Stuart, I mentioned on our celtic radio broadcast just a few hours ago what a strong love for it's celtic heritage Canada seems to have.

I was playing a track by Wicked Tinkers, a Canadian/Scottish band.
Then there is Loreena McKennitt, who is simply the best celtic voice to come out of Canada.

    I congratulate your nation!
