    Unhappy Rant reply

    Hello all,

sorry to make my first post here a negative one but I felt I had to make a few points in reply to MacHummel's tale.

Firstly, it's barely comprehensible that anyone thinks they have a right to make an underwear enquiry to a stranger, a crime made worse by the opposite genders of the two participants in this bizarre scenario, not to mention the old harridan's reported indignation.

Secondly, can you imagine how society would interpret MacHummel's motives if he were to stroll round downtown Fergus politely interviewing randomly selected females on their choice of underwear on that particular day and offering approval or condemnation as the mood took him. I doubt if we'd see any postings from him for a while.

As a Scot (albeit living in England) I'm appalled by those people (usually Scottish), who've bought and read 'How to deliver unsolicited
kilt and Scottish related advice to complete strangers for dummies). If nothing else it's plain rude. All things considered, I think
MacHummel's approach was pretty good - but I'm not sure I'd even enter into a discussion on the subject with an someone quite
clearly a few tassles short of a sporran. There are any number of friendly replies to friendly questions but to be so personal is quite offensive...........right, I'm well out of breath here.

Sorry for the rant, nice to 'meet' you all

    all the best

    frank

    Wow

Thanks all for the support everyone I really felt my response was the best one to make considering my actions are at best a direct reflection of my class, so I appreciate all the comments you all have given out I am now feeling better about the day one person sometimes can really affect you .

    Smile

[ And does it strike anyone else as simply downright rude to ask such a question? I find this to be no less offensive as asking a female stranger if she is wearing panties. But maybe that's just me.]

Hello that's what talking about.....You are a wise man indeed....rude yes absolutely.

And a belated welcome from me

    Frank,
That's as good a first post as I've seen on this or any other board. No, I'll go further than that.Your use of the word, "harridan,' makes it the absolute best first post as I've seen on this or any other board.

If I was a member of that viperpiper board I would have posted the address to my 'It's a guy thing page'. There it explains why it is better to go regimental.

Personally, it sounded like a few women not liking the way men dressed.
We don't sit with our knees together? Duh! We've got something in the way! Besides, why should we sit as women do? We're men!

    Don't like seeing what's under a man's kilt? Don't look under a man's kilt!

Worried about women or children getting a shock after seeing under a man's kilt? Relax and stop being such a prude. It's a human body! Being shocked by it is the greater social problem.

I had an older woman, some biddy old blue hair, stop and look at me on the sidewalk. My wife was there. She stared at me for a moment, made a puckered nasty face, and said to me "Have fun in hell PERVERT!" I think it was because I was kilted or something. I never did exactly find out why she felt that way. Something about me offended her.

Those are the times you wish you could speak Latin. Imagine her face if you'd started spouting Latin, occasionally spitting, howling, and flicking your tongue at her.
