Why do you wear your kilt?

Until I put on a kilt and looked in the mirror... at no time in my life had I ever bothered to turn and look at my own butt in a mirror! No other garment I've ever put on has ever caused me to do that!

Actually, do a bit of forum searching if you want to find out the main reason why I had to make a switch.

Kilt wearing and why is always asked me. Some of the obvious:

1. Because I can
2. Comfortable
3. I look so sexy in it
4. My heritage
5. I am an individual
6. Definetly a non-conformist
7. Pants are a thing of the past

OK to really answer your question, festivals and other Celtic events first lured me to wearing the kilt (they are so seductive). Then I found that they were so comfortable that I wanted to do more. Started hitting the internet and read plenty and found out that they are just as common as pants to many people. Garments are what they really are plain and simple easy to put on and boy when you are out in the kilt something happens. You stand taller, you have more pride, and by golly you send forth all sorts of positive energy to everyone around you. Makes everyone around you honored to be in your presence. On those rare occassions I do wear pants I am down right miserable to be around. To paraphrase Blu, I really like looking at my rear in the mirror

I'll ignore such obvious reasons as clan etc.

Whilst heritage could be covered by a tie or badge.

Mostly because it is so very comfortable and practical for most occasions-and ideal for the British weather.

Well I wear my kilts for the following reasons

1. Way more comfortable at work, the kilt(non-wool) is way more comfortable than trousers behind the grill at work, you do not feel as drained and wornout at the end of the day.

2. Kilts feel better than trousers

3. I'm a non-conformist. I march to the beat of my own drum :mrgreen:

4.The extra attention from the lady's

5. Because I want to.

Well it's all been covered, but I wear a kilt all day every day.
I feel good, comfortable, special and 'in tune' with my celtic heritage... in a kilt.
I feel myself, my real self, the way I always wanted and intended to be when kilted.


What more reason could I need?

Well, in a kilt you have very good contact with your balls all day long, and in general those dear-to-our-hearts "nether regions" and their faithful attendant are always in place..no adjusting, no pinching, just pure freedom. If you wear your kilt for a week running then try to get back into trousers you will be amazed just how uncomfortable bifurbicated garments actually are, unless they are very, very baggy (Turkish peasant trousers would work well, as their crotch hangs down at knee level...I picked some up in Turkey years ago and they are great, though hardly high fashion!!). My friends ask me if boxershorts wouldn't be the answer, but, really, its not at all the same experience; one must still "choose sides" as it were, whereas, in a kilt, one "swings both ways".
