US Army Dress Blues With Kilt

I bought a set of Dress Blues for very formal occasions but they look like poo-poo. (Taylored wool suit price, polyester quality and potato sack cut)

So then I thought about the uniform that the Army Band wears with the bagpipes only to find that there are no regulations that even allow for that, in effect the pipers are in civillian clothing.

Now I am considering a dark blue sportcoat modified with a "crail cutaway" front, knotted epaulettes and 3 button pocket looking thingies to give me something that I can wear with my kilt that has the look of a Mess Dress Blues with out the hassles of having to be in uniform or the price.
