Hmmm. I'm going to have to spend more time at the bookstore.

I had my photo taken in book store here in Belfast by a charming American Lady who had never seen a man in a kilt before except in a picture. She said it made her holiday and it made my day. It great to hear you where wearing a Kinloch-Anderson Breacan. Hows it feel? I was thinking of getting one as it would be a good weight for indoors or warm summer days. We rarely get it hot over here but the full weight kilt is sometimes to warm.

But for all these great powers, he's wishful, like me
To be back where the dark Mourne sweeps down to the sea.

I have had the Kinloch-Anderson Breacan kilt since the only 26 May, so my experience is somewhat limited. I have worn it for about 3 full days and on several other evenings. For these three days, I was primarily on my feet and I was very impressed with its comfort. I am very pleased with the quality of the construction and the wool. It fits well. This kilt is off the rack to the extent that all they have to do is hem it to length.

I recently wore it while presenting full day seminar to the local engineering community on material selection. I used the kilt as a teaching aid to establish a concept and keep peoples interest early in the morning rather than just jumping into mechanics and solid state physics. When I finally did get to the tough stuff, they had an understanding of where I was going and why they should stay awake.

The Notre Dame Marching Guard tartan is recorded by the Scottish Tartans Authority. The notes on it say:
    Notre Dame Marching Guard

    Notes:
Lochcarron notes say designed by Robert O' Brian of the USA in 1996 which conflicts with the original note saying it was from a kilt exhibited by Jean Givler in 1995, who said it was 25 years old. Sample in STA Johnston Collection from Freida D. Donnan of University of Notre Dame1996.
    See it here.
