Well I just read an interview from the producers (wish I had kept the URL!) that said that the myths about the next doctor wearing the kilt are completely untrue.

    Doctor Who

Frazer Hines first appeared as a kilted highland lad in an episode of Dr Who in "The Highlanders" in season 4 in late 1966. Although destined to become one of the series' best remembered and most popular regulars ,it was not originally intended. The producers were so impressed with his performance they decided he would make an excellent foil to the then Doctor, Patrick Troughton. He lasted for three years as the Doctor's kilted sidekick (with Wendy Padbury as Zoe) before resuming a life as a jobbing actor.

Frazer Hines who played "Jamie" is now a succesfull Stud farm owner, as well as a popular guest at doctor who conventions.

does anyone remember the "tomorrow people" from the 70s a character "Andrew Forbes" was a scot so the producers put him in a kilt and doublet and he lived in a castle- the mind boggles as to what he would have got if he was a Native American character -a wigwam/ headress/etc

This series was simply great, everybody has been watching it especially due to the Sat eve spot, even my wife who normaly hates this sort of thing liked it.

IF HE WEARS A KILT THEN IT WILL GIVE US ALL A HELL OF A BOOST, HERES HOPING, AS IT HAS VERY HIGH VIEWING FIGURES.

Here are a couple of pictures of Frazer, one taken from the original series, and one of him at a Dr. Who convention more recently.
