    Daz, we agree.

Wearing a kilt, you could almost pull off any sort of look you wanted. And some folk would think you made some degree of effort.

    Nothing like freedom eh?

Thank you. You said that quite well.

    I know I will! LOL

Not being the only kilted gent in the southeast quadrant of Denver!

Another option that I have just thought about, is to get a Bolo tie (can buy for a lot of money at the airport), but then again it still is a tie, never mind.

I used to hate ties too until I figured out that my shirt collars were
    too tight.......duh!
If wearing a tie is uncomfortable, buy a shirt with a larger neck size
that feels fine buttoned up. Simple as that. Be very careful not to
shrink them when you wash them! I hang mine on a hanger to dry
or you could have them dry-cleaned of course.
Graham, wear whatever YOU want. Be yourself. Be comfortable. Nobody
will care and if they do, screw 'em. I wish I lived closer to where you'll
be. It would be lovely to meet you man.
    Cheers,

Ties are descended from the neck-cloths of the 18th century, which were survivals of a cloth wrap simply intended to protect your neck from sword cuts! So wear your tie proudly as a piece of armor. Just think how much safer you are with it on...!

Bah! You pansies! Neck tie armor.

Fight bare chested like men! Let your rage be your armor! Let your fury be known on the battlefield.

You fight bare-chested if you want! When the sword blades start whirling, I want my chain-mail and neck-tie in place...!

    Oh, yeah... a targe, too!
