Thread: Sport Kilts etc

    Question Sport Kilts etc

I have a Sport Kilt, and I love the thing to death. But it seems to be a fairly despised company, perhaps b/c of the elastic? I dunno. I guess I'm looking for some opinions on Sport Kilt. Are there any other companies out there that sell somewhat authentic LOOKING kilts for less than $100? i AM in college, after all. The Sport Kilt was affordable.

    Look for Stillwaterkilts.com

    Good kilt. Small price.

You will slap your self when you realise that what you spent on the sportkilt you could have got your self a nice 8 yard kilt with no elastic.

Don't get the Economy version and get either a standard or a heavyweight. you will thank me later.

While you are at the site, buy a sporran as well, if you don't already have one.

Hey Toad, the SportKilts are only a "kilt" in the sense that they're primarily a tartan and they're not shorts... period. The fit, hang, feel and look are anything but what you would expect. Once you plop on a real kilt, you'll see and feel a HUGE difference.

StillwaterKilts has a version that they call the "Heavy Weight Kilt" that is NOW available in a FANTASTIC all black version. There IS a plaid there, but it's concelaed in an all-black material. It looks AWESOME. I own a couple of them, and they're absolutely wonderful for the price. I HIGHLy recommend them for the look, feel, ease of maintenance and speed of delivery.

They may cost just a little more, but in the end, you'll appreciate the quality and the look. Sometimes, it's worth a little more to get so much!

I'm not at liberty to say any more then this, but in the near future we'll be able to get some "other" colors that we've been clammoring for too... in the heavy-weight version. I can't wait!!!!!!!

You may also want to post your waist, hip and length specifics since there are members with extra kilts that you can get for a song.;-)

well, looks like i may have wasted some money...but the scot in me won't get rid of the sport kilt now that i have it. besides, who'd buy it? and like i say, it's great in the mornings. or for whenever. i where sandals half the time anyway, so it's not like i'm authentic or anything. my brother is considering a utilikilt, how are they? looks like i might have to save for a few more months, and get that heavy one. or another comparable. any suggestions for black kilts under $150?

While its been a few months, I did get a Standard Black Kilt from StillWater. Try emailing them and see if they are getting more in. Their stock does vary over time.

I really like my Utilikilt and they have the "Original" for $125 and the "Denim" for $148, both of which come in black.
BTW where abouts in N.C. are you located, if you don't mind me asking? I'm just west of Charlotte.

I have three sportkilts. One I bought, the other two given to me. I wear them around the house and such, but I wouldn't wear them out for anything. For a good and economical kilt, checkout Jeff at Pittsburgh kilts. Here is the link, as well as a link to a casual kilt company list:

    http://www.pittsburghkilts.com/
    http://www.geocities.com/elijahnasar...sualkilts.html.

Jeff offers a black kilt for $110.00 as well as a lot of nice options which increase the price a little.
