??: I don't know Jamie. I don't think I would have ever taken that as being hit on either. Maybe I'm dense on those things too. Oh well, after 23 years of marriage, don't think I need to worry about that anyway.

You guys are making me feel much better. Not that I worry about it too often, but some of my female friends had been starting to make me feel like a dumbass.

I trudge through life utterly and completely oblivious to essentially all of this. I also figure that at my age, none of the women I know give a horses behind about me in that manner, the girls at at school would contact their attourney.... or their shrink.... if the idea crossed anyone's mind, and while the kilt is great fun, absolutely NONE of it is even if one-hundredth of one percent serious.

I've found that women, in general, are far more subtle than men. If a man says something, that's exactly what he means. Women say things and they have layers of inference. That's why they get so upset when they tell you, "But I've been hinting for weeks that you should do blah blah blah." That may be so, but I've never picked up on it. I always tell girls to just tell me what they want/think/whatever. If they try to hint at it I'm just not going to pick up on it.

I've also had girlfriends get mad at me for flirting with other girls. I never thought I was flirting. Maybe those other girls were, but I was just being polite.

well i have to respond now. after being married for 12 years and separated for three (and only being 34) i have to admit i am pretty daft when it comes to females and their ways. and also if you guys knew how i looked you might understand more why i dont 'get it' when a girl is hitting on me. i would post pics but damned if i can figure out how. and pls dont post a million times telling me how. i am not going through the rigamorole of it. if it was simple i would do it. anyway i am 34 and a punk at heart and dress the part. picture 14 hole doc martens kilt, punk rock tshirt and studs. nuff said? i do have pics (if any lasses r viewing lol) anyway guess i just need that blatant shot to the head for me to see.

My wife figured out I wasn't going to pick up on hints and subtlty when she met me so she took direct action and simply told me we were getting married. If she hadn't been that direct I'd have never got the message.

Bubba, I know exactly what you mean.

My wife and I were together for a couple of years. We were friends at first, then something more serious, and then quite serious.

One day, she said "I love you" and burst into the worst case of tears I had ever seen. Took me a several hours to get her to stop crying.

Between gasping sobs she got it out that she had done everything she knew how to do to be nice to me and make me love her enough to marry her and it hadn't worked. She was wickedly upset that it was because of her own disability that I was "stringing her along" and she was absolutely heart broken. She wanted a normal life so badly... She wanted a husband and the sorts of things that "normal" people have in life.

We were married a short while later. And have been now for a touch over 5 years.

In those years we were dating... I had no clue what so ever that she was dropping hints.

I am a knucklehead. I still feel guilty at times when I think about the fact that I am so absent minded and dense that I made her cry.

Dread, us guys just aren't open to sublty. Once my wife figured that out she just started saying what was on her mind. It's worked fine. We've been married almost 35 years.

Well...sometimes I do get the hint.

I had a girl whom I did not know, walk up to me and start talking like we were old friends. So at this point I suspected that she was hitting on me so I dropped the lamest excuse for a pick-up line that I could think of: Hey baby do you want to come over to my place and listen to my bagpipe CDs? She said yes, at this point I knew that she wanted to get laid. Nobody likes th' pipes.

6 months later we were wed.
