Anyone deal with House of Edgar?

Yes, the wool tartan used for my traditional Drummond kilt is from the House of Edgar. I am very happy with it.

My Cumming/Buchan hunting (ancient colours) kilt is from the House of Edgar (via Hector Russell's Canadian branch) -- I highly recommend them!

They're one of the MAJOR mills in Scotland. They're also the ONLY able to make the Irish Natnl and all of the Irish county tartans.

Moira, their sales manager is a VERY personable woman... she may be partial to me though... b/c when I call, I'm either ordering fabric or giving her money...

They're MacNaughtons, so I e-mailed Peter MacNaughton about the X Marks tartan. We can't afford them, but I checked anyway and heard back promptly. so their customer communication is good.

Great & thanks. Looks like I'll try to narrow my choice of tartans this weekend & order another kilt Tuesday.
Cameron, black & red. Wife prefers Cameron of Erracht or Black Stewart.
Thoughts on how they look in a kilt?

Cameron of Erracht is the regimental tartan of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders (amlgamated with the Seaforths in 1961 to form the Queen's Own Highlanders, and then again with the Gordons in 1994 to form The Highlanders). It is a handsome-looking tartan and looks quite nice as a kilt:

My Ancient Hunting McIntosh is made from House of Edgar 13 oz. I chose it over Lochcarron because it was brighter than Lochcarron's ancient hunting and not as dark as their modern hunting. I've been very happy with it.

House of Edgar is one of my main suppliers for cloth for my kilts (Lochcarron being the other). I like them for several reasons:
1. They have a very nice range of tartans -- their "Old & Rare" range includes a lot of hard to find tartans that you would have to get special woven otherwise. And of course all the Irish county tartans can only be produced by them.
2. They have nice colors. Their "muted" color scheme, especially, is a nice alternative. It's darker than the ancient colors, but lighter than the modern. It's closer to actual traditional tartan colors than most of what you find available today.

I've always found their shipping to be quick and reliable.

I only wish that they did more tartans in heavy weight -- their entire Old & Rare range is medium weight, which I understand is more popular for standard kilts, but I really do prefer the heavy weight for four-yard kilts.

My winter kilt was made by them. A 9-yard 18 oz. military weight MacKenzie modern. Had a couple minor problems at first, but, other than that, it's been great. Better than the Armstrong modern that I have, which was originally made by J Higgins...
