Kilt hose without taking a bath?
All,
I ponyed up US$60 plus US$ 20 postage & handling for 100% NYLON diced hose, they look OK but they snag on my rough hands like I imagine womens hose do all the time, and they are sweaty and too hot.
I'm not impressed with this value, and believe there is a market out there for anyone (me and a friend plan to be that anyone) who can source decent wool blend diced hose at a sensible price.
I don't think the market for custom made hose will be dented at all, as most of us just can't or won't buy from those super skilled ladies at that price as things stand anyway. They will still have their wealthy elite customers and purist hobbyist/re-enactment dudes.
I just wanna bring a little comfort and diced colour into the lives of guys like you and me, and make a modest buck where other synthetic mass producers, or mass wool market monopolists are clearly skimming a little too much cream.
If I can get my hands on a multi coloured rugby sock at under $10 Aussie I really don't see how diced two-tones could be that much more expensive, at least to make.
Even given lesser volumes and more complex patterns, I can't see how current vendors justify hose prices short of there being no serious overseas competition. A sock is a sock, darn it!
We are serious, but it's early days and we need to do a lot of homework, so keep your better halves knitting those patterns!
This is also a modest feeler to see if I may have struck a chord...
Slightly off-topic, but I didn't think my 2 cents would hurt!
