Oh, she said she'd do me a box pleat kilt for $325. She's the lady that trained in Scotland under the old line kiltmakers and has all her certifications. www.kathyskilts.com
Just to avoid confusion, this would be for a modern-day militray style box pleat, which takes just as much yardage as any modern kilt would (i.e. an average of 8).
This is not what I commonly refer to on the board as a box-pleated kilt, in the style of the original tailored kilts. These are "true" box pleats, meaning that the depth of the pleats is (more or less) half the size of the boxes, and takes about 4 yards of cloth.

This is important
We have 19 meters of the X Marks Tartan ordered as of Mon. 18 July 2005.
I have ordered 4 mtrs.
Bikercelt 4 mtrs.
Hamish 4 mtrs.
AlanH 2.5 mtrs.
G.E. Roth 2.5 mtrs.
MikeinNC 2 mtrs.
Gordon Kirkbright has graciously offered to start weaving.
Steve,
If you order 19 metres, I will run 25-30 m in confidence that the extra will soon be sold.
Price of $53/m applies to approx. half bolt but if we could get to a full bolt (50-55m) then price drops to only $43/m for the 13-14 oz weight.
On speaking with Matt Newsome, and others, in North Carolina it seems that this would be the most suitable weight for all climates.
Regards
Gordon

Yes, Ron, send me the whole card. ;) That thing has bought so many kilts in the last year I figure it must have some kind of magic in it.

Ron, (Riverkilt) just sent me his order for 4 meters.
That brings us to 23 meters. One more order and we're in.
I'm awaiting for a call back from Gordon Kirkbright to place the go-ahead order.

More than X Marks Tartan Kilts
Just in case it might help put us over the top...
Kathy Lare at Kathy's Kilts in Albuquerque, NM USA can make other garments out of this X Marks tartan fabric.
She also makes tartan vests. Would look sharp with a solid color contemporary kilt.
Special deal, not on her pricelist, especially with supplied fabric, but don't guess it'd be too much. No clue how much fabric it would take for a vest. Guess it depends on measurements.

I just got off the phone with Gordon Kirkbright.
The bad news is;
The mill is shut down for their two week vacation.
The good news is;
We are on the production schedule to start weaving 23 meters as soon as they get back.
Here is the official word;
I will accept orders until 2400 pdt Sat.23 July 05. Anyone who has already ordered will be getting an invoice from Freedom Kilts this week. The invoice will include the cost of the amount of fabric you ordered, any applicable taxes, cost of shipping to the address you gave me, and my fee for handling this.
As soon as I have recieved confirmation of your payment and no later than Mon. 25 July 05 I will send a check to Faser & Kirkbright.
After Mon the 25th you will have to wait for the next run to get the X Marks Tartan.

Cool!!
Since we're a tiny order and different may take a while eh?
Guessing the actual arrival of the cloth will be sometime around December??
Waiting four months for a special tartan from Lochcharron and they take that two week break too.
Or did they give us a promise/guesstimate on shipping time?
Thanks
Ron
