Tying the Bow on the Balmoral
Can anyone give me instructions on how to tie the bow on the back of the Balmoral? I read the instructions in "So You're Going to Wear the Kilt", the instructions there are not very detailed. He does tell us it should be about 3 inches wide.
All of the pictures I have seen show the bow directly on the back of the Balmoral band. When I try to tie the bow on mine, I end up with a bow that hangs down below the band. Is this the correct placement?
I just know someone out there knows how to tie this bow.

Jim:
I believe the "secret" is to whip-stitch the bow to the back of the balmoral.
A friend of mine did my bow -- I'll ask him to make sure I'm not leaving anything out.
Cheers,
Todd

I thought about sewing it on the back of the band. It seems like one of the books or articles I read suggested that method. That would keep it from coming undone for sure.
