Unfortunaely I see this happen all to often. I much as I appreciate the attempt, it is something that needs to be corrected. I think the worst case I saw of this was a guy who looked like he went a bought a checkered table cloth, like the ones you would see at an Italian restaurant, had his wife sew so pleats into it and strapped it on and it was on backwards too boot.

I have come to the conclusion that the only thing to do is point and laugh.

As much as I want to point and laugh, I refrain, for propriety's sake... ;)

Hard to say if the backwards kilt thing is rebellion or ignorance. Who knows... now that the modern kilt designs have hit the streets, and old rules and traditions are being bent and ignored, maybe the backwards kilt will become an accepted thing too! :-P
(Imagine the discussions and arguments over that one! )

Maybe WE Have Been Doing it WRONG!!??
Think about it. If a man from Mars came down he'd for sure assign the pants to the ladies and the kilts to the men...
BUT...why wouldn't he use common sense and have the men wear the aprons to the back and the pleats to the front like that kid??
With the apron to the back there are no pleats to worry about wrinkling when we sit. I'll bet "the sweep" is easier too, or even unnecessary. Going to the bathroom sitting down would probably be easier to keep the kilt out of the way...and, for extra income there are probably corporations out there that would rent the flat space on our backside for an advertisement...

Ron,
You bring up some very good points. Here's another one: I have 3 pairs of pants that are pleated in the front. So, I can understand why an uninformed person would think the kilt's pleats go in the front.

Huh. I have two pairs of dress pants that have pleats in the front too, of course.
I never thought of it that way. You're completely right.

I wonder how many other kilt wearers have pleated pants. Maybe we have a pleat fetish! :-)
