Matt,
A splendid article which leaves no stone unturned. Thank you for it, and thank you also for 'the mention' - very generous of you. However, just one point: the name is Bicknell, not Birknell !!

Thanks Matt...I'm less baffled now. Also appreciated the mention of flash suggestions.

Matt,
Thanks for the tip on your blog spot, I really enjoyed it, there is a lot of great information on your site. I also appreciated the comments on flashes, you confirmed my color choice.

Yikes! I'll have to get that corrected right away. At least I didn't misspell my own name (yes, I actually did that once....)

With the Irish National, of course off-white or oatmeal hose would look fine, with green flashes. I would also say bottle green would probably look good, but is this a wool or a poly-blend kilt? A lot of the non-woolen kilts I've seen at the Games and other places have slightly different colors (they look "brighter" to me) and I'm not so sure that hose in colors meant to match the standard woolen tartan shades will always work well with non-woolen tartans. If there is any doubt, I'd take my kilt with me when I shopped for hose so I could match colors in person.

My kilt is an acrilic SW Irish National so the green is a bright almost kelly green. I LOVE the color but its nowhere near bottle green i think. Bottle green is several shades darker
