Hey Man,
Nice job on the kilt! Sewing that much denim is something I have just decided I would never do... how many needles did you go through? (My Mitsubishi industrial sewing machine hates going through more than two layers of denim. The feed dogs don't pull evenly, the needle breaks, etc, etc, etc. FRUSTRATING!!)
Anyway I need to tread a little carefully here... yes, I work for Utilikilts, but I am also about to get my A.A. degree in Fashion Design...
So the Fashion Designer side of me thinks the pockets could look a little better. It seems they are the wrong size for the kilt... like the ratio of pocket length to kilt length is not exactly right. I'm not sure how to word it, exactly.
Also, the pockets are not mounted in the same place: 2.5 pleats over on one side and 1.5 pleats over on the other side.
One note of warning for the next kilt you make: the top edge of your pockets aligns with the bottom row of snaps. In any other fabric I wouldn't see this as a problem, but denim wears in such a predictable and obvious way, that I think it will create a horizontal line from the edge of the pocket to the snap.
The body looks really good. I think with a few little changes to the pockets, that this would look like a commercial product!
Very nicely done!
