    Welcome

    First of all welcome Izzy.

On kilts being universally recognized as a man's garment, I have to go to the women's skirt sections of Goth shops to find men's kilts. There on the same rack, between the micro-mini "kilt-like-skirts" that I buy for my daughter and the long "kilt-like-skirts" that I buy for my wife, are the men's kilts. This is after I explained the differance to the store's manager two weeks ago.

Well welcome to xmarks and thanks for the story. Thanks for the memory trip too, haven't heard of 'bootblack' in a long, long time. Wonder how that would work with a leather kilt?

well, you need to remember that goth boys have been wearing girls skirts in a non-crossdresser fashion for decades. the goth boys will find mens kilts in amongst the women's skirts. it could also be that the store put them there intentionally-- maybe women were buying more of them than men anyway so the store put them with the women's stuff.

well, if they are the "kilts" from Hot Topic, they don't look a LOT like kilts anyway. i have one and i have never been told "nice kilt" while wearing it.

Hi Izzy, welcome to xmarks. I'm familiar with your posts at the utilikilt site and I've always enjoyed your insights and perspective. I still scan stuff over there but I feel much more at home here. I'm glad Ron persuaded you to check in here, I hope you'll stay and become part of this clan too.

well, in the Leather Community a bootblack takes care of boots and other leather care duties. we take it to a level of craftsmanship and the act of bootblacking for someone is oftena gesture of love, devotion, and/or respect. we bootblacks are quite a community within the leather community and we ALWAYS have loads of fun when we get together.

check out my site... LOTS of pics and boot/leather info.
