Hi John
Earlier this year, I had 8 yards of single width 16 oz tartan custom woven for a client by D.C. Dalgliesh, and it didn't cost as much as the mill that Matt uses. If I remember correctly, it was maybe $400 total. If you're interested, I could call them and inquire. Dalgliesh weaves beautiful tartan.
I also could make your kilt for you. I charge $250 to cover labor and stuff other than tartan (buckles and things). Traditional kilt, no shortcuts.
If you're interested, let me know!!

SHOOT!!! You beat me to it Barb!!!
I would also take-up Barb's offer to MAKE the kilts! You're not going to fork-over that much for the good stuff and have it made by a "hack". She's the one to "Git-R-Done" the way that you're talking about.
The SportKilt Clergy Ancient is not the exact tartan, but is relatively close. If you're willing to go that route, you MAY be fortunate enough to find it in some fabric shops. I, personally, would take up Barb's offer.
Arise. Kill. Eat.

Barb:
I AM interested.
You can PM me with details or just post them here.
Is it Clergy Green? I have a scarf from Scottish Lion from my wife, and I am pretty sure that, although it's dark, it's the ancient Clergy Green, and it is wonderful.
Thanks for your help!
