Is it Clergy Green? I have a scarf from Scottish Lion from my wife, and I am pretty sure that, although it's dark, it's the ancient Clergy Green, and it is wonderful.
Hmmm.... I'm doubting it is ancient Clergy Green, now that you mention this. First of all, if it is dark, more than likely it is the modern colors. Modern is a term used for dark, rich colors. Ancient is the term used for lighter, faded colors. ("Ancient" refers to the fact that the lighter colors are supposed to represent an old, faded peice of cloth -- same concept as stone washed blue jeans).

Second, if your wife bought you a scarf it in from Scottish Lion, it is most likely Clergy Green modern, as I know of no mill that is weaving any weight of cloth in the Clergy Green ancient. If it was commercially available as a scarf, I want to say it was the modern colors.

So you and I may be talking about two different things here. And if it is indeed the Clergy Green modern you want, the cloth may not have to be custom woven after all.

Is there any way you could scan in a picture of the scarf and email it to me so we can be sure we are on the same page?

    Aye,
    Matt

I can't seem to post the jpg of the tartan, so go to kiltstore.net, clergy tartan section. See the Clergy Green ancient?

The scarf I have is identical to the Clergy Green Ancient picture there.

It is dark, but I like the color better than the others. Hey, what can I say, it's the graphic artist (my former job) coming out in me.

Let me know what you think.
