In lieu of pockets, a sporran, or the pocket sporran... you MAY want to consider a nicely designed pouch/storage-pocket that will slide on to a belt. That way, it's EASILY left-off when wearing sporrans, or put-on for the Festivals or times when the sporran's not wanted. You only need to be sure that the tartan lines-up when it's on, or it will stand-out like P.Diddy at a NASCAR dinner.
I've made them for NUMEROUS customers in NUMEROUS configurations. It's possible to make a collapsible/lined beer holder in tartan. There are wallet/smokes pockets that are easy to make. On-stage extra picks/instruments (harmonica, whistle, bow) pockets are REAL useful... and it's a specialty that I love to make.
Try those grommets for the kilt pin. I want to see that one! Nice and original.
You may want to hit any of the Jomar Fabrics locations to find some more material. The one in Lansdale is pretty sparce, but the one on US1 is a wonderful source for tartans in wool, cotton-poly, cotton-twill and whatever else they can get. Forget Fabric Row... they're WAY too expensive unless you know them.
Arise. Kill. Eat.
