I sit all day at a desk in front of a computer and since joining this board I have rekindled my love of Celtic Music. I was looking to expand my horizons and was wondering if there are any recommended websites for listening to streaming celtic music? I stumbled upon Accu-Radio's trad site which is great but I am always open to more. Any suggestions?

I found this site the best. It has numerous celtic stations. The highlander Radio on 365 is very good. There are very nice irish stations also.
There is no fee for the basic station, but for the better stations there is fee with no comericals interruptions.

Another station on live365 is *****'n'onions. Definitely not traditional, but if you want to hear some celtic with a little edge to it, that is the place!

Live365 has a lot of different Celtic stations, from Punk to Contemporary to Traditional to New Age. They also have every other kind of music collection you could possibly think of; I highly recommend the service.

Also, for those with the time to do it, they have a membership option to set up your own music station and add it to their list; it lets you download your own selections for other listeners to hear.

CelticRadio.net and Highland Radio are the same entity. Paul MacArthur, a good friend, started and improved this station over time to where it is the premier Celtic Station on the net. Tell Paully "hi" for me. Our friend and XMarks brother, Bear, is an advertiser!

If, by chance, you're on AOL... you can just hit the AOL Radio and listen to the Celtic station. It's actually pretty good!

I personally love *****'N'Onions since they're friends too. It's much more "up tempo" (so to speak) but is perfect for those times when you need to get your blood flowing! They also have their own compilation CDs for sale. Tell the guys "hi" for me.

Rumour has it that Donegal Press will be cooperating with an online service to get a station up-and-running later. That one should be great since they really know their music.

ckua.com is the public radio station up here in Alberta. They aren't strictly celtic, playing a wide variety of anything you won't hear on top 40 radio, and a fair bit you won't hear on campus radio either. Friday nights 6-9 pm MST is the Celtic show, which has always been one of my favorites. Here is the blurb from the web site. You can listen online at ckua.com. Trasna is a local Virginia group from Virginia's Shenandoah valley. The tunes are from their first CD and are samples (full songs, not just portions). They are a really high energy group, and the young lady who plays the fiddle is not only great looking, but very talented as well..
