I don't know if this has ever been posted but a really handy book for Scottish history is a light book called Scotland for beginners by Jeff Fallow. It uses almost a graphic format to present the history. It has an index, chronology, geneology and famous Scots sections. It should not be seen as a definitive book but I find it very handy to locate points in history from which I can then go to heavier tomes for details.
Could there be any value to the idea of book list attached to this site? It could be broken up into history, fiction, and reference with short reviews from us, having actually read the book, giving recommendations and cautions. (...or a movie list?...stop, stop.)

Thank you for that reminder. I, and all of my kids, are liabrary fans. The liabrary fueled my thirst for books and I still go there with the girls and pick up books that I otherwise wouldn't buy.
