The Art of Kiltmaking
I ordered it last Thursday and received it on Monday. It looks very straightforward to me and I'm well pleased with my purchase. Once I finish moving, I plan on starting on my first kilt making experience!

Ed's Mini Review: Excellent book, somewhat helpful for making a contemparary kilt, but it's truly geared towards traditional hand sewn kilts. If you're making that... then it's awesome

Barb's book may not be the best $30 I have spent, but it is quite high on the list....and I have yet to actually make a kilt.
The book taught me a lot about how a kilt is constructed and why. It also has a section on altering a kilt. So.... I had a very nice traditional which, for various reasons, I was no longer able to wear. With what I learned from Barb's book I was able to alter the kilt so it now fits comfortably and looks really good. Thus for the cost of the book, and some time on my part, I have regained the use of a really nice kilt. Sure beats paying $500+ for a new one!
Making a kilt .... that is on my (way too long) list of things to do someday.
