We have gone from an awesome weekend to the windy city. There has been trees downed all over the county. Power lines were down over highway 6 north of Fergus, power was out on Friday 3 hours. I guess there was some fairly extensive damage to some rural homes and farms in Fergus and Elora and surrounding area. Some you can actually see the twisters path. Lots of beautiful old trees snapped like twigs by high wind shear.
I spent all Saturday helping an older couple across the street cut down and cut up 4 very mature trees that snapped on there property. One was wedged in a vee of another stopping it from crushing a wooden shed. No damage to there house as they blew the other way. It was nice to see relatives and neibours chipping in to make a large job go so well.
I don't know the full impact but it seems to be the worse i've seen in a while. But we still can't compare to the southern United States. We get a few little funnels and some high winds. When they get it it wipes a home or a town off the map.
Machummel was on his way to Toronto airport when this all happened. I don't know if he heard before he boarded his plane. He's in Cuba and i'm up to my kilt in twigs and branches.

Thanks again for the concern,

Kilted Stuart
