The effect of too much beer made it go right by me. Sorry about that.

The Review, Finally
I finally got to see the kilted wedding episode that inspired this thread. I think it was quite positive.
Both grooms wanted tuxes for the ceremony. When they were surprised with kilts, they both balked -- one especially so. He complained loudly, and flatly refused to wear it.
That is, until it was pointed out that the kilt is traditionally worn without underwear. At that point, the show dubbed a "ding!" sound in, and, while cheesy, the sound was appropriate. His attitude changed instantly, and once he ditched the underwear he was -- not just agreeable -- nearly enthusaistic about the choice of wedding clothes.
So the show featured two grooms, host Scott Thompson, pipers and a dance troupe all kilted. The garments were handled with respect and dignity. Fiddler Ashley MacIsaac performed, albeit in trousers.
The most impressive part of the show was the grooms' change of heart, from clinging to fear and preconception to embracing the freedom. That's something a lot of us here can relate to, and shows that the kilt is a guy thing, not a gay thing.

My fabulous gay wedding
For some reason reading the messages posted here I am reminded of a scene from 'The Life of Brian'.........with a slight amendment. Its the stoning scene.....'Are there any GAYS here on this forum?' Oooo I can just hear the gnashing of teeth of the creeping Jesus types desperately trying to hide their prejudices behind the pretext of this being off topic. Dontcha just lurve it?

As Mrs. Patrick Campbell said...
....in the early part of the 20th Century: "It doesn't matter what you do in the bedroom as long as you don't do it in the street and frighten the horses".

Oh my- that does make the passing out of beards even funnier in a sad sort of way.
I'd watch Scott Thompson snore- I was in Toronto last week and shocked my Canadian friends by regaling them with my Scott Thompson knowledge- they thought he was a local phenom.
I think though, that we are finally, (FINALLY!) moving away from stereotypes of homosexuals for their lifestyle and more characters that are gay and lesbian. Perhaps, some day, a bisexual will pop up who's not a crazy goth pretty boy or a sexually ravenous lolita-type, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Excuse me. What is a "creeping Jesus type"? Please be as specific as possible.

Indeed.
When one makes what appears to be a prejudiced statement and rails against prejudice in the same sentence, I would also like some clarification.

Well, Brampton is technically part of the Greater Toronto Area, and is not far from the actual centre of Toronto. It's also right beside the suburb (mississauga) with the Toronto airport. Personaly I would probably consider him a local phenom were I from Toronto too.

Fab gay wedding
Hmmmm..... well.....the type who thinks they are superior cos they have found Jaysus I guess. Watch Oscar or Country Music Awards and see how many DONT thank Jaysus or Gawd for helping them to win their award. There arent many. Their talent would appear to count for nothing in their own humble opinion or are they just trying to appear self effacing/modest? Oh lordy I think I can see the villagers coming over the hill again with their torches and pitchforks. Righto..I'm orf to draw me a pentagram and shag a goat and sacrifice a virgin. Or have I got that wrong again? So....anyways....arent kilts great? (Wow....nice right turn back onto the kilts forum even if I say so myself)

Smug superiority sucks, whether it's coming from a Christian fundamentalist bigot or a secular fundamentalist bigot.
Then there's the trousered fundamentalist bigot who hates kilts one way or the other (but sees no problem with women wearing pants). And then there's the unbifurcated fundamentalist bigot who sneers at anyone in pants as a lockstep conformist.
All leaves on the same weed. Break out the herbicide already.
