You know? That is one delicious kilt and I much prefer that colouring to the Stillwater version. Strangely, I have never thought to have an Irish tartan represented in my Kilt Kollection (possibly because I have no Irish connections - as far as I know!), but that Irish National really 'does it' for me and I am now sorely tempted. Yes, I AM tempted.......
Oh-oh! I don't want to be responsible for you adding yet another kilt to your kollection! LOL

It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to attend the gathering in Vancouver. You would have been able to check it out in person.

It is a rather nice tartan, though. I prefer it to the SW version because I really don't like "loud" colours. They just don't look good on me. Same reason I won't get a Royal Stewart kilt, too much bright red!

Great piccies, you've reminded me of how much I love that tartan. I like the darker version too.
Is Chris still making kilts? we've not seen him here for a while.

He made a Morrison Modern for me, it's a fine kilt.

The darker one reminds me of the Forde (Irish family) tartan:

This is the sett my kilt from Kiltstore.net is in....

Can someone please explain how these two tartans can be the same? They don't look alike at all. I'd be sorely dissapointed if I ordered an Irish National kilt and received that obnoxious SW tartan. How can there be such a variance?

    Here is the Irish Nat'l:

..which looks more like the SW version to me! Don't know what that darker one really is....

I may have figured it out! Check out the "Irish American" tartan on this page, and compare it to the Irish Nat'l:

I'm still not sure what the first (darker) tartan is but it's neither the (Irish) Forde nor the Irish National tartan and it doesn't appear to match the thread counts for either:

    Forde: G4, K4, DY4, K8, R4, K4, R4, K8, DY4, G64

    Irish National: G106, DG10, Y10, DG18, K10, W10, DG4, G14, DG2, Y4

It may be a 'fashion weave' of some kind or something else. Anyone figure this one out yet?

It resembles very closely a lot of the Irish county tartans (yeah, I wasted time and went through ALL of them I could find) but it's not RIGHT ON any of them. Hmmmm...
