Lots of wonderfully whimsical suggestions. More practical might be to wear the required work clothing, but festoon your cubicle or office with lots of photos of manly men in kilts.
At my job (I have to wear a uniform like the other guys and gals I work with) I have a photo of Hamish and I kilted in London right under a photo of my wife and I gazing lovingly at each other in a gondola in Venice.
I'm also kilted whenever I need to drop by the worksite to pick up paperwork or when attending casual work-related events where we aren't required to be in uniform.
It gets the point across that kilts are my regular clothing without jeapardizing my job or being preachy about it.
I've heard not a peep out of anyone so far.

What about trews done in the Jacobite tartan? Those would certainly get some attention too.

We could organise a sit in. Peaceful non-violent protest. About a dozen of us big fellas. And we could lounge around the workplace.
Just an idea. Stop looking at me like that. Yes, I said non violent protest. I might be a big brute but my brain far outreaches my brawn.

We'd have to go to Germany, Dreads. Sounds like a new gathering to me!
I might remember enough German from high school to be able to translate.

That non violent protest would turn ugly fast if somebody fed me saurkraut.
I do believe that Germany would turn me out.

Guten tag, heir sind der Herren im Kilten und Hosen!
(My German's not all that great either.)
But the problem, as he pointed out, is since he's working for a church-based office position, some of the descrimination laws don't apply.

What I was wondering was, did they say "No more kilts" or did they say "Wear pants". big difference, as pointed out by others on the thread
I'm a vindictive sunofabitch. I'd wear a sarong the next day. Personally I wouldnt be caught dead in one, too girly for my tastes, but just because they said "No kilts" I'd wear the damn thing.
I dont wear kilts to work mainly because I have only two kilts that could look professional enough with my business attire (A UK black original, which is pushing it with the snaps and pockets, and a SWK wool black watch). Main reasons I dont bother is the UK is pushing it as far as professional look goes, and 95% of the shirts I wear to work are plaid button down shirts, and they'd all look ludicrous with a black watch kilt. Well, that, and the HR whore here at work has a personal vendetta against me, and I hate the job enough that if she provked me, I'd likely tell her to F off and walk out the door... and my son needs my income more than I need to wear a kilt to work right now.
Now when I quit this hellhole and am working for myself... kilts all the way

Bummer.
I really hope that things do work out. As they always do (sometimes along time)
