That one, while nice, is not the one I have seen mentioned before. Anyone else?

I believe Hamish made mention of a black on black tartan from TFCK.

    clan.com lists several black-on-black tartans.

    Black Isle
    Dark Island
    Ben Dubh the black mount
    Black Shadow

I'm not sure, but it kinda looks like the Black Shadow listed on clan.com is the same as the Stillwater material. Whatcha think?

Not quite, Doc. I do have two plain kilts in black Barathea - one from TFCK and one from Geoffrey (Tailor) - I have jokingly referred to them as being in the "MacAbre" tartan!

However, I do have in my 'Kilt Kollection' a black on black kilt from The Highland Store, in London, in what they called "Hidden Tartan". There's a pic. of it on page 6 of my photo album.

I find it very hard to tell from the pictures, but I am assuming there is a visible tartan pattern to these kilts? In the pics they all seem to look just black.

    Yes, there is.

You may need to turn the brightness and contrast up on your monitor to see it. But, it is there.

    Hi Tiran,

If you click on the thumbnail at the bottom of page 6 of my Album, the image will enlarge and, if you click on that one, it should enlarge yet again. I think you'll be able to see the 'hidden' pattern more clearly then. Admittedly, it is not very clear, but black is very difficult to photograph - especially with an automatic camera!

Tried to have a look at the gallery Hamish, but only the first two images are coming up. May be an AOL thing again, but is ther anything else I should do to view? (Other people's IMFF galleries have worked.)
    Thanks
    Phil

FYI... This is the same 'tartan' as my SW Hvy Shadow Tartan kilt...
