That's very true. I wish more places would make their straps a little longer. You can always trim off a strap that's too long, but you can't make a short strap longer. Most straps that you can get are just a few inches too short for me. I fashioned a sporran strap buy linking together two smaller straps. If you look at it, it seems strange because there is two buckles on it, but most people won't notice and it works great for me.
