Question for Pennsylvanian Xmarks members...
Has anyone from PA ever attended the "Green Lane Celtic Festival"? After moving to PA when I was 9-years-old, I lived in this area until I was about 18 but the event didn't exist back then. I've heard of it in the past although I've never attended this Scottish/Irish festival. If anyone's interested, here's the link:
Green Lane Celtic Festival
If you've been to it please let me know what your impressions were. Thanks!

MacSimoin,
The Green Lane Festival is definitely worth attending. It is amazing how it has grown from nothing into a great festival. My pipe band has played the festival several times and will be returning to play again next year (the bands are on a three year rotation so that the festival changes from year to year). The Saturday night headliner is the Glengarry Bhoys and they put on a great show. My friends and family go every year and we have a wonderful time. If you can go both days because there are new things to see and hear on both days.

I'll be there next year.
It's a nice family festival that's nothing "showy". It IS pipe bands, vendors, and a nice casual time. Music is always good, and so is the food.
Considering it's free, you can't beat the price.

Info from the web site:
Green Lane Park invites everyone to the Sixth Annual Scottish Irish Festival and Highland Games on Saturday, September 10th, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 11th, 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.
One of the largest Scottish Irish Festivals in Eastern Pennsylvania, and the only event of its type that is totally FREE, no admission fees, no seating fees for any performances and no parking fees. DONATIONS ARE GLADLY ACCEPTED. The one day Festival was first started in September 2000 with over 10,000 visitors. In September of 2004 the two day Festival attracted over 120,000 visitors.
This FREE event will allow families to learn more about the Scottish and Irish cultures through the performances of Bagpipe Bands, Irish Dancers, Highland Dancers, Highland Game Competition, Gaelic Singers and Performers, Highland Cattle, 4th Annual Green Lane Park Sheep Dog Trials, Storytelling, Society for Creative Anachronisms, Celtic and Classic American Food Vendors, and Authentic Celtic Merchandise. The section of the park located on Snyder Road off Route 29 in Green Lane will be the venue for this event. The activities will take place in the background of the lake and rolling hills of the beautiful Upper Perkiomen Valley.
See ya all there ....

I'll be playing in New York City on September 10th and 11th, but you're GUARANTEED to see a load of kilt-wearers at the thing. The Highland Games are a BLAST, since it's a grand mix of athletes, and wanna-be tossers. It's all done with the best humour and fun too.
Enjoy the bands. They're good friends with GREAT music!!!
I still owe Glengarry a beer from the last concert we did together.
