The Long Weekend (so far)
Greetings all,
This being a long weekend in the US all sorts of activities prevail and are being participated in, of which I am included.
Friday night had supper downtown with several friends at a fairly nice restaurant. Of the 10 of us the conversation entered into why people are starting to dress up more and more, and not being so sloppy in their dress. A lady friend who was sitting next to me turned and said to me that I would not have anything to worry about, because even when I am casual I look very dressed up. I was wearing my Maple Leaf from Bear and a polo shirt.
Saturday I was trimming my tree while wearing my Workman's from Utilikilt, when I do not know how many people stopped and talked about how neat I looked. That evening met up with several friends who had won a complimentary dinner for four at a new restaurant. Wore my Co Fermanagh and a dress shirt (no tie) when this lady kept staring at me and finally asked if I was in a festival this weekend. She was a bit confused, because the big festival is next weekend. After we left the restaurant we started walking down the street when the sound of a bagpiper and drummer was heard. They were leading a processional of a wedding party, and the four of us were then invited to help celebrate, but we apologized and went on our way, after all it was gettting late.
Today (Sunday) started out in the usual way, where everyone sees me kilted and it is no big deal. Went to the Farmer's Market to pick up a few veggies and fruit for the week. Then still in my Stewart Hunting from Rocky went again downtown for a great big end of summer bash and party called the Taste of Colorado. The only kilted comments were what tartan is that, which was asked about four times. Plenty of smiles and hello-s from everyone, but the best thing that happened was when I was riding the light rail back home when this little boy of about 4 was sitting across the aisle from me said "cool kilt" all without prompting from his mom or dad.
Tomorrow just having a relaxing backyard party with about 7 friends, very enjoyable.
