I've been doing the internet dating thing for about 6 months or so, and yes, you are right, the average lady I have met up with has been bright enough and dynamic enough to try internet dating themselves, but obviously I have not had success yet.

But the problem with the internet (and part of the problem is I am too honest) is that I put my correct age of 47 on the dating website, and then I get women of the same age contacting me. But I am pretty immature for my age and I get along better with 30-somethings; so I thought if I went to a singles night out or speed dating (kilted of course) then I may hit it off with a tasty 35-year old, or maybe 25-year old.....but there again my ole ticker may not be able to keep up with the latter....

May I suggest, as someone who's married to someone 14 years older, that you do not look for an age, but for a person? If my darling husband had been looking for a 23 year old to date, I would have found it creepy, but since he was looking for (in his words) a charming woman with good self-worth and a wicked sense of humor, he got me. And you're always better off looking for a person than a physical thing.

Bernie- how to pick up a gal changes a bit, but I recommend getting a dog. Seriously- gals love dogs, and a guy in a kilt with a dog is a hard package to resist for the right woman.

There're a lot of Scots in the area, mostly unkilted except on special occasions, Bernie. But just up the road in Harpenden each July is the Harpenden Highland Gathering that brings out most of the Scots in the surrounding region, kilts and all.

Well, back when I was 47 (1991) I was dating ladies between 27 and 55. Didn't seem to matter much. Like Shay says, its the connection.

Linear concepts of age hold us prisoner...okay to include that you connect better with younger people...can't hurt.

And, like sales, the secret is to get out and circulate in all the venues you can.

The ladies that have been most important in my life were met in varied ways...next door neighbor, visiting activist, a single's dance, on line, at a 12 step meeting, classmates at night school....the ladies are out there if you're out there....with a kilt...get ready to start dating.

Way back in 1999, I was on a at the time 'new' online dating service. Although living in Pittsburg, PA at the time, I started a great telephone and email romance with a woman in Reno, NV.

Long story short ... we were married within four months (June 28th, 1999), and it has been six years now and we are happier than ever. Besides, she likes me in kilts!
