Difference in mills - lochc or mmills
I've notice a significant price difference on the Kiltstore.net site with regards to the mill of origin.
Lochc and mmills and hedgar
What is the difference and please be specific, as I have alot of kilts to buy soon, so I'm all ears.
Any help or comments appreciated.

I'm guessing those abbreviations refer to Lochcarron, Morton Mills, and House of Edgar. I'm not familiar with Morton Mills, but the other two I know.
Basically, some mills weave tartans that the others don't. And the color pallatte is going to be slightly different from one mill to the next. I know Lochcarron and Edgar both have the highest quality cloth. As I said, I'm not familiar with the third.
But if the tartan you want is avaialbe from more than one mill and you need help making a decision, just ask them to send out sample swatches to you. That way you can hold the cloth in your hand, feel the quality, see any subtle color differences, and make an informed decision.
Aye,
Matt

If the MMills is "Marton Mills"... it's NOT wool (most likely). They're the supplier for all the kiltmakers that use that PolyViscose material. They MAY have a tartan woolen line now... I haven't been to their site in a while to really know... but they specialize in the other stuff.
You get what you pay for. I have Lochcarron and House of Edgar. I have kilts that I've made, and have been made for me in both. I can only HIGHLY recommend them for strength, weave and comfort.

From what I've seen on various websites Marton Mills does, indeed, have a wool line of tartans.

Thanks!
According to what I am reading, Marton Mills has wool in 13 and 16 oz.
They are less expensive than the others, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with their woolens.
Help!

Personally, I'd get a swatch of the tartan and weight of fabric you're interested in from each of the mills so you can compare the actual fabric for weave, weight and color. As far as I know the fabrics are pretty much comparable except for color shades and intensity.

Does anyone have the website for Marton?
