Kilt Reviews
It seems like no one could be happy with the kilt company reviews section of the site so it is gone now. Not a big deal. I never liked it anyway. It made my house smell like garlic.

Now steady on there, I happen to be a great fan of garlic!!!!
Oh well, you're the boss, and I guess if kilt reviews is what folk want, there is a site dedicated to it.

Thanks, Hank. Decision made. Would it be correct to conclude, then, that kilt or kiltmaker reviews are not to be a part of XMarks and any attempt at such will be deleted when posted? If so, then maybe it should be one of the rules of the site.

That's unfortunate. I found that forum very helpful.

So, will discussions on kilt makers and comments not be allowed? Makes it kind of hard for newbs just getting into kilts to know where to go, and who does quality work.

Nope. There just wont be a specific section for it anymore. It was trouble from day one. I think it would have been great if people could have posted a review (pos or neg) and then people take it at face value. Seems that it caused too much friction though.
I didnt see the last deletion before it was deleted and I am going to review that whole episode as I was out of town. But it seems that some people wanted a lot of rules for that section and some wanted none (not pointing fingers...just stating the way it all worked out). Best just to not have it.
Maybe I will reinstate it once i figure out a way to make it work, but for now it is gone. Feel free to post reviews but remember that trouble gets the boot.

Some boards I'm on have areas where only 1 initial post is allowed, and if anyone can reply, it's only the mods. Maybe something like that?

Ok, let me get this straight in my mind... The kilt reviews section of the forum is now defunct, replaced by instruction to post future reviews in the other sections with the vague caveat that "trouble gets the boot"? Other than a means to purge the reviews that were already in place, may I respectfully ask what the point of this is?

Okay.
I thought that the reviews that I posted were informative, honest, straight forward and impartial. They were intended to educate non-owners on the kilts that I have experience with. I don't recall anything in there that was negative for the sake of negativity.
If anyone had problems with the layout or the information... speak-up GDI.
Unless this is being done due to whining (and I would not be surprised) it flat-out blows. It was a concise and easy to obtain review of what we're all interested in.

I like the Single post method. It's great to have a central place where we can share good opportunities to get a great deal or awesome service. But we also need to caution each other from our bad experience.
I agree it sucks to have "dog piles" on negatives and rabbit trails with people telling parallel stories and opinions. So if someone wants to share their experience it will be limited to only the review. The reader will determine it's value personally. Any follow up will be restricted to PM's or start a thread in one fo the other forums adhering to the everyday rules.
