    It stains nothing.

all of the points brought up about warming up the knees and tiger balm (which is on my list of things NOT to put on my "twig and berries") and whatnot are good. However...

One thing we're overlooking... the REST of the body. As long as your core (torso) is well protected and warm, blood flow will increase to the appendages. Make sure you have a "longjohn" shirt on and a sweater and a GOOD ski/snowboard jacket. Also, wearing a helmet (vs. a knit cap) keeps your head MUCH warmer.

I'd also suggest wearing a pair of bikers shorts (lycra) to help keep the "boys" in place and warm a little bit.

    Hope this helps!

Oh yeah... one last thing. DON'T get stuck in the pow. Sinking in snow with exposed legs might not be the best experience on a hill.

Years ago in a novelty/gift catalog they advertised a goose down filled jock-strap. Can't remember the name of the company though.

You guys just need to move to California to ski. I actually havent been skiing since I started wearing kilts, but in the late season I routinely ski in a tank top and get a tan by the end of the day.

A few months back I was watching a bit on TV about outdoor survival where the survival instructor Cody Lundin was in the snowy high Sierras wearing a t-shirt some little shorts and a real substantial pair of gaiters which if I remember correctly, did cover his knees.
One thing to think of is that if you're moving and active (like when you're skiing) in the cold you generate a lot of your own heat. I've experienced this many times while working construction....you arrive to the jobsite freezing your **** off, but when you start working, you shed your layers very quickly.

    Hope this helps

Yup, they'll do that here in California too, during the spring ski season.

    Skiing

The Sportkilt website gallery has a photo of some chaps skiing in their kilts.
It actually looks quite silly.....I say dont bother it is like the idiots who spring ski in shorts and tshirts. One good fall and it is like landing on sand paper.
